The UK Marine Industries Alliance has developed a technology roadmap to identify future priority gaps, opportunities and capability needs for the UK Marine Industries.  The roadmap funded by the Technology Strategy Board and Transport KTN with support from the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills aims to underpin the national Marine Industries Growth Strategy.

The report represents the summary outputs from more than 200 participant days of workshop time, with representatives from across the industrial and academic communities.  The workshops were facilitated by Cambridge University’s Institute for Manufacturing which also compiled the report.

The process identified priority drivers, opportunities, capabilities and enablers in the short, medium and long timeframes.  The most important market opportunities were highlighted where UK capability could deliver against major global market needs.  These assessments were based on defined criteria for value (global and UK market, competitive strength, added value and impact on societal and environmental challenges) and capability in the marine industry, academia, research organisations and from adjacent industries.
